Over the past 7 years I have grown a thriving vocal studio in the heart of Silver lake,
and have helped hundreds of people find their voices and tap into their authentic vocal power.
All in a positive environment.
The technique I teach is based around healthy singing with an emphasis on breath support, vocal registers, vocal placement, and using your acoustic chamber.
We learn vocal control so that we can let our sound be free.
I'm a classically trained opera singer with a B.A. in musicology from UCLA. After my time on the opera stage I toured all over the country singing with bands and singing/composing for Movies, Television, and Commercials.
I work with all levels; Beginners to Professionals.
And all styles; Folk, Country, Pop, Soul, Classical, Jazz, Blues, Punk...
Let's talk about your vocal goals
and get your vocal dreams started!!
I work individually or with bands, duos, trios.
I also teach Piano, Ukulele, Music Theory, and Songwriting.
I work with a large amount of Singers, Songwriters, and band folk in the
Silver lake/Echo park/highland park music scene,
and haunt the same theaters and venues performing live, as well.
"Claire is a teaching wizard! She has an amazing technical knowledge of voice, while also nurturing creativity in her students. She is incredibly supportive. I had several issues with my voice that I feel we've gotten or are getting over, and more importantly I never felt I was lacking, or inadequate, in the process. My singing has improved greatly both technically and in terms of confidence. Claire understands that we learn best when we feel supported and heard. Being a teacher myself, I know this is the secret to learning! I highly recommend her artistry and talent." -- Hèléne Renaut
"I had always wanted to take voice lessons since I was younger. I searched a long time to find not only someone with an incredible voice, but also someone who is patient, fun and a fantastic instructor. My voice has dramatically improved since day 1. We sing an array of songs, not only ones that I choose, but songs that Claire thinks would be good for my range." -- Nazli DeFazio
"Claire McKeown is not only a gifted and beautiful person, she is a phenomenal singer & teacher. I have been very fortunate to work with her. If you are just starting to sing, or are a professional vocalist looking to strengthen your skills, do your self a favor and see Claire for a one on one session. She is compassionate, professional, and just lovely to be around. I highly recommend her!" --Marcella Kroll
"There's a component of singing which is rarely addressed, but just as vital to performance and tone as breath and posture: acceptance. Not merely confidence, but true, deep love and appreciation for one's own uniqueness in voice. Ms. McKeown taught me that. In a matter of months, she helped me transform the shame and secrecy I'd assigned to my desires to perform into elation and pride." --Sterling Powers
"Claire is not just a vocal teacher, but a voice coach. A guide even. She has helped me find confidence in my self-expression to stop hiding and get over my fear of failure/not being perfect. She is also skilled at teaching the technical and comes up with metaphors and visualization tricks that just connect so easily. I used to feel strained after a choir practice, but I'm learning how to support my voice with breath and body, as well as picking the more natural placement (chest, head, etc) for the sound." -- Natalie Baack
"I began taking lessons from Claire 4 years ago when my band was about to go on a major tour. She successfully helped me and the other singer blend our voices together. When I got back to Los Angeles, I began one-on-one lessons. She has been a consistent supporter of my solo project ever since (even when I hated my music) actively pushing me to share it with the world. Claire always says, "The world can never have enough music." A few ways in which Claire has helped me technically include, strengthened my voice, corrected incorrect ways of singing, and explained vocal anatomy to help me understand the way the voice works. I am proud to call her my voice teacher." --Savannah Wheeler
